OUR HIGH RISE APARTMENTS

High Rise #1 is a six-story complex comprised of 74 studio and 23 one-bedrrom units some of which are wheelchair accessible. In February 2002 one of the studio apartments was converted into a show suite which is also available for nightly rental by family and friends visiting our tenants.

High Rise #2 is an eight-story complex comprised of 136 apartments 106 one-bedroom units and 30 studio units.

High Rise #3 is a building in partnership with the department of Municipalities: Culture and Housing, it has 28 apartments, 5 are two bedroom units and 23 are one-bedroom units. NB Housing determines tenant placement and rental rates are based on individual incomes.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM

Loch Lomond Villa is very excited about our new Supportive Housing Program, a first for Saint John and Region II. Supportive Housing facilitates independent living, by helping Seniors' to meet some or all of their daily needs. Supportive Housing combines a safe and secure physical environment and support services such as: meals, housekeeping, laundry and maintenance, to enable the Senior to remain independent in the Community as long as they are able and/or choose to do so. Supportive Housing Services provided on one floor include:

Laundry
Maintenance
Recreation & Leisure Choices
Trips on the "Villa Van"
Staff on floor 10 hours/day, 7 days/week

OUR SERVICES:

Bank Machine

The Loch Lomond Villa now offers a bank machine for staff and residents to use located outside the Country Store in the main reception area.

Beauty Salon

The beauty salon is located in High-Rise #1 near the chapel. It is open Tuesday through Friday 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. For appointments please call 643-7176.

Security

All three buildings are equipped with a security system encompassing surveillance cameras and access cards. Visitors can still be buzzed into the building by tenants from the keypad in the main lobby or by pushing 9 on their touch-tone phone.

*NO DOOR-TO-DOOR SOLICITATION OF ANY KIND IS PERMITTED IN ANY OF THE BUILDINGS.

Chapel

Our 50 seat chapel is available for the use of residents of the Nursing Home as well as the tenants of the High Rise Complex. Multi-denominational services are scheduled throughout the month. Bible Study, Memorial Services, and rentals are available. Schedule of services is posted monthly.

Country Store

The country store offers: some groceries, home baking, lottery tickets, convenience items, gifts, postage stamps, as well as a range of prepared lunches. The store is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. except when closed for lunch from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.. The store closes every day from 4:15 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. for shift change and cash verification. Additionally from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. the store provides reception service for the distribution of keys and resident location information.

Senior's Wellness Centre:

One of the most comforting amenities offered at Loch Lomond Villa, for many tenants, is the convenience of having a Wellness Centre on the premises. The Centre is located off the lobby of High Rise I.

The Senior's Wellness Centre provides and coordinates health services to apartment tenants. The focus is to promote wellness and healthy lifestyles by providing ongoing education sessions on health related issues and disease prevention.

Some of the available services include:

Registered nurse available Monday through Friday (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) to handle emergencies and to see tenants by apointment. The nurse can be reached at 643-7174.
Foot Care Clinics held bi-weekly by the Victorian Order Of Nurses (VON) and monthly by a Podiatrist (Dr. Stephen Johnson).
Hearing tests by Beltone.
Denturist appointments & Pedorthist appointments.
Blood Pressure, blood sugar monitoring and B-12 injections. Blood work will be done by appointment and only with a doctor's requisition.
Referrals to the Single Entry Point System (SEP) for home support services for seniors, Meals on Wheels, dietitian counseling, Mental Health Services, Red Cross and Rehabilitation Services - Extra Mural Hospital.
Health Clinics (Flu Immunization, Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Education and Health promotion).
Nurse available for health counselling on health issues, medications, home health needs and follow up after hospitalization.

Reception services are also located in the Senior's Wellness Cente, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The receptionist can be reached at 643-7139.

Some of the services available include:

Assistance for those tenants who lock themselves out of their own apartment during business hours.
Parcel and letter pick-up for items not delivered by Canada Post.
Meal ticket sales.
Money exchange (for laundry services, paper carrier, hair appointments, etc.)
Schedules appointments for the nurse, Dr. Johnson (Podiatrist), Pedorthist, hearing tests, Denturist and V.O.N.
Purchase of hearing aid batteries.
"Lost and Found" services.
Provides tenants with information on services, programs, event.
Helps tenants requesting emergency aid assistance for 911.
Redirects mail.
May sell tickets for special events.
Handles memo's / bulletins/ sign-up lists / menu's and notices.

Recreation& Leisure Programs:

Recreation & Leisure Programs are offered to maintain overall well-being and to enhance the quality of life of tenants in the apartments.

Some of the Recreation programs include: socials, Tim Horton's Coffee Club, dances, cards, shopping trips, bowling, cooking groups, take-out dinners, entertainment, educational sessisions etc.
Monthly Recreation CAlendars and weekly posters, community events posters which inform tenants of what is going on daily, are distributed to each floor of each high rise and are posted on the bulletin boards.
Van outings are scheduled on a weekly basis. If interested in going on a trip, tenants must registe by signing up at the Wellness Centre.
